CEO Update: The Latest on our Acquisition by Cvent
Our recent acquisition by Cvent represents a very exciting time for Elite Meetings International (EMI). While we’ve created a strong brand with great products, we have only scratched the surface of all that is possible. At EMI, we have grand goals—and all of them center on connecting buyers and suppliers. While we have indeed made significant headway since we launched the company in 2006, we felt it was time to partner with the strongest brand in the arena—Cvent!
We now have an exceptional company behind us. With their help, we’ll be able to continue to develop world-class products for both sides of the business. You see, we’ve been listening. You told us you loved our products, and you provided us with great input on how we can make them better. I’m happy to say that we are now in a position to take your ideas and turn them into reality. These enhancements are driven 100 percent by your real-world needs. I personally can’t wait to get things going so you can start using the very solutions you helped create.
With regard to day-to-day items, things are “business as usual,” except that we’ll be able to move a lot faster than ever before. Our headquarter offices will remain in Santa Barbara, Calif., and our staff will be intact. Our core products will continue on as they have, with one exception—we will be making major enhancements to each and every one of them. Here is a quick look at what you can expect for 2015:
Elite Meetings magazine will still be published, and will likely grow in both content and distribution. Here are links to our 2015 Platinum and Gold editions that will hit Hudson Newsstands starting in early February.
EliteMeetings.com will still only feature the world’s best hotels and resorts for meetings, and will continue to be powered by SpeedRFP technology. The only change will be more. We will be adding additional Platinum and Gold Elite Certified hotels and resorts in order to create a truly global product.
The Elite Meetings Alliance will continue as planned, and our next three events will take place as scheduled at three amazing Elite Platinum–Certified hotels and resorts:
- Hyatt Ziva Jamaica in Montego Bay, Jamaica
- Vdara Hotel & Spa in Las Vegas, Nevada
- La Cantera Resort & Spa in San Antonio, Texas
We are also in the process of planning our first Elite Meetings Alliance in London in Q4 of 2015. For 2016 we are considering more international locations, so stay tuned.
Our Elite Meetings Advisory Board remains intact, and will likely grow to include industry leaders from territories and segments not currently covered. Again, having a truly global reach is one of our main objectives for 2015.
AttendeeHub will continue toward its goal of becoming the leading mobile application purpose-built for running appointment-based events.
SpeedRFP.com (the SpeedRFP Network) will continue to be the epicenter for SpeedRFP users wanting to easily submit and manage RFPs submitted from any SpeedRFP-enabled websites. Currently we have nearly 16,000 hotels listed worldwide, and we plan to expand quickly
SpeedRFP technology will not only stay with us, but will be vastly improved with the additional engineering expertise we now have access to. This is one of the areas of growth that excites me the most, as it has always been our goal for SpeedRFP to become the de facto standard in electronic RFPs. Now that we are part of Cvent that goal is well within reach.
So as you can see, things are the same… just much better with our acquisition. I have had nothing but respect for Cvent since Day 1. I’m extremely proud they thought so highly of EMI’s products and staff that they’d want to bring our entire company under the Cvent wing!
We will provide you with updates as new enhancements and features are released. Until then, its business as usual, and, as always, I thank you for your support!
