As the meetings and incentive travel industry evolves, IMEX in Frankfurt continues to provide a wide range of new thinking, new destinations and new venues all under one roof, providing inspiration, innovation, fresh insight and brand new ideas.

At the event, taking place 19 to 21 May 2015, buyers will have the opportunity to meet a wide range of new exhibitors from every continent and from every meetings market sector. Emerging meetings and incentive destinations in particular will be well represented, with new exhibitors including Lithuania, Prague, Ras Al Khaimah, Meet Taiwan, Kaohsiung City and Visit Faroe Islands attending alongside the large established destinations. Exhibitors with expanded stands this year are also wide-ranging and include Singapore, China and Macau from Asia, Azerbaijan from Eurasia, Austria and VisitBrussels from Europe, Costa Rica, Peru and Brand USA from the Americas, and Preferred Hotel Group and NH HotelGroup representing the hotel sector.

The newly expanded Inspiration Hub will be the focal point for learning throughout the show, offering a packed education programme showcasing the best ideas in technology, trends, business skills and sustainability. This year, the programme will start before the show opens with in-depth sessions on business networking and confidence building providing a strong beginning to the day. Also for the first time this year, buyers can select education based on their level of meetings industry experience.Jagger seminar audience

The overall Inspiration Hub programme covers all aspects of business with 10 tracks and more than 170 sessions designed for the meetings industry, from Technology & Social Media, Risk Management & Compliance, Trends & Research, Health and Wellbeing, Diversity and Sustainability, Creative Learning and General Education to Business Skills and Marketing & Communication.

The health and wellbeing seminars, a programme of at least eight sessions each day, will cover areas such as mindfulness in events, the importance of good posture and staying healthy while travelling.

Creative Thursday is another innovation within the education programme this year and the sessions will be delivered in a variety of formats including interactive hands-on workshops, seminars, campfires, the research pod, hot topic tables and meet the expert. The last day of the show will feature at least 12 original sessions on thought-provoking subjects such as developing emotional connections in corporate events, why the experience matters and using science to design with confidence. The sessions on ‘Five Ways to Boost Creativity and Innovation …or Kill it’ and ‘Why Chocolate Comes in So Many Different Flavours’ will be particularly engaging and different as they will be presented in a ‘creative play’ format.

Carina Bauer, CEO of the IMEX Group, says: “The General Education and Creative Learning tracks and, in particular, Creative Thursday sessions are sure to inspire and reward those who take part in these highly original sessions.

“While business meetings on stands are the centre point of IMEX, education is an essential element as we aim to inspire buyers and exhibitors and fulfil their needs. The comprehensive Inspiration Hub programme will be valuable to buyers whether they want to refresh their knowledge, or acquire CMP/CEU and ISES Points or are looking for new ideas.”

One of the world’s foremost business leaders kicks off the first day of the show, delivering the keynote speech at the opening ceremony at IMEX. Bill McDermott, CEO of SAP, the world’s largest business software company, believes passionately in the value and effectiveness of meetings as a means to drive business growth and profit, commenting: “Your industry is at the forefront of driving growth in the global economy.”

Exclusively Corporate @IMEX, designed specifically for corporate meeting and event planners, will focus on the critical issue of engagement, with keynote Kevin Kelly showing how to use his ‘Xceptional Execution’ methodology to tackle this. He will explain how the driving force behind many organisations’ successes is often the exceptional execution of an ordinary idea.

Association Day, at the new Kap Europa conference centre, and the Politicians Forum both have inspiring new programmes, with the latter seeing more than 100 ministers, senior regional politicians and meetings industry leaders gather to share valuable insights into attracting meetings business.

Carina Bauer sums up: “Strong demand from our exhibitors and buyers across the world is a good indication that 2015 will be another year of growth for IMEX in Frankfurt and we are looking forward to welcoming buyers to a packed, productive show. The new initiatives will ensure that buyers come away inspired and empowered, having enjoyed a busy few days of business.”
